Doncaster Hill – One Step at a Time

Date:
11 Apr 2016
Council is currently working on a plan to encourage Doncaster Hill residents to leave their cars at home and walk, cycle or catch public transport, to ease future traffic congestion on the Hill.

A pilot behaviour change project is being developed in consultation with the residents of Sovereign Point Court in Doncaster Hill.

Local resident Martin Boseley and his neighbours have been involved in developing the pilot project. He said that Council’s community engagement with Doncaster Hill residents is key to the success of the project.

“I used to travel mainly by car, but since being involved in this project, I am more conscious of my travel behaviour and I tend to walk and catch public transport more often. I encourage people who live locally to walk, particularly in peak times when there is extra traffic on the road and it is more difficult to find a car park at Westfield.

“I would also highly recommend catching the bus to the city to avoid the lengthy queues on the Eastern Freeway and expensive parking in the city. The bus is a much easier and less stressful mode of travel,” Mr Boseley said.
