Sustainability Guidelines

Manningham Council's Sustainability Guidelines assist development applicants with their Sustainability Management Plans (SMPs). The Doncaster Hill Sustainability Guidelines detail how best practice sustainability can be achieved in new developments.

The guidelines outline numerous leading edge techniques that demonstrate best practice in sustainable design and construction. The guidelines demonstrate the benefits of sustainability and the processes that can be adopted by the development sector to achieve better living conditions.

Sustainable Design Taskforce

The Sustainable Design Taskforce is an advisory body that includes Councillors, Council officers and external independent advisors including architects, urban designers and environmental consultants.

The Taskforce provides advice and constructive feedback to developers and architects to further the urban design and ecologically sustainable development (ESD) objectives of proposed developments. This fosters the exchange of ideas and feedback between developers and those with expertise in the fields of statutory planning, urban design, sustainability, transport and other related issues.

The Sustainable Design Taskforce does not replace Council as the decision-making authority, however provides an informal setting for developers to communicate ideas for development plans prior to formal consideration by Council.
