Council has secured a $5 million Federal Government grant to help fund the Doncaster Hill Civic Centre community centre building.

Anthony Albanese, Minister for Infrastructure and Local Government and Manningham Mayor, Cr Charles Pick, announced the grant yesterday, which will kick-start the $28.35 million project that will deliver family, community, education and health services to the Manningham community.

The funding is part of the Government's $800 million Community Infrastructure Program, which seeks to help deliver economic benefits through construction jobs, as well as increased pedestrian and commuter traffic for local businesses.
Council has now secured $6 million worth of grant funding from the State and Federal Government's for the project, and has applied for another $7 million worth.

The Civic Precinct community centre will provide a one-stop shop for services to Manningham residents including family services, child care, maternal and child health, pre-school facilities, aged care and volunteer services, a community and youth activity space, library, art gallery, community arts facility, public transport hub and underground parking.
