Crowne Plaza coming to Doncaster Hill

The Doncaster area's first international hotel is coming to Doncaster Hill, with the announcement that the 682 Doncaster Road site will be developed as a Crowne Plaza hotel.

Scheduled for completion in early 2011, the five star, nine-storey hotel will include 140 rooms, as well as a ballroom, naturally lit meeting place, fitness centre with pool, and an all day dining restuarant and bar.

InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) will manage the hotel under the Crowne Plaza brand. IHG Chief Operating Officer Australia, New Zealand and South Pacific, Bruce MacKenzie said that Melbourne offered opportunities for the growth of the business, and the Doncaster development was a key site.

'Doncaster is a particularly attractive location given the high number of business drivers in and around the suburb, the current lack of quality accomodation in the immediate area, and Manningham Council's Doncaster Hill Strategy to attract 4,000 new residents and five million extra visitors to the area each year,' he said.

Work on the $45 million development is expected to start this year.
