Funding received for pedestrian and cycling connectivity

The Minister for Transport announced this week that Manningham has been successful in its application for $173,195 for the Doncaster Hill pedestrian and cycling connectivity.

The funding was provided through round one of the State Government's Local Area Access Program 2006/07

This project aims to deliver significant improvements t the Doncaster Hill Activity Centre through the construction of a series of pedestrian and cycling links connceting Precinct 1 with Westfield Doncaster.

The scope of works includes the construction of a new shared path at the rear of Doncaster Primary School connecting to an east-west link along Goodson Street via an upgraded footpath along the street through to Westfield. The project also includes the upgrading of the existing footpath which will provide a pedestrian and cycling link south along Council Street from Goodson Street to Doncaster Road.

The project also involves the development and placement of 'wayfinding' signage at key strategic locations to identify and promote the improved pedestrian and cycling network and major destination links.
