Mayor Calls on Community to Get Actively Involved in Doncaster Rail Study

Manningham Mayor, Cr Jennifer Yang is calling on the local Manningham community to get actively involved in the push for rail to Doncaster.

Cr Yang said that with so many competing infrastructure projects being proposed to the State Government it is vital that the residents of the eastern suburbs, and especially Manningham, get actively involved in the advocacy campaign and let their voice be heard.

“Doncaster Rail has been proven to be feasible and now is the time for the community to help generate the political will to get this much needed infrastructure out of the realm of feasible and into reality.”

“Local views and aspirations are important in addressing future transport requirements and community input is a valuable part of the Doncaster Rail Study.

“With the release of Phase One of the Doncaster Rail Study Report, there has never been a better time to get involved.  I would encourage all residents to attend the coming community information sessions and have their say,” Cr Yang said.

The aims of the community information sessions are to explain the findings of the Phase One Draft Recommendations Report and encourage community feedback.

Feedback will be accepted by the State Government’s study team for consideration in finalising the recommendations report until Friday 28 June 2013.
