The State Government last week announced it would contribute $3.3 million to the development of the Doncaster Hill Civic Centre community centre building.
Planning Minister, Justin Madden, and Community Development Minister, Peter Batchelor, visited the site to make the announcement on 28 May.

The funding comprises $1.8 million from the planning portfolio and $1.5 million under the Victorian Community Support Grants program.

As well as contributing to the development of the community hub, Mr Batchelor said that the $1.5 million would go towards 'employing a Community Engagement Officer for at least three years to work with residents, business and community organisations and implement activities local people consider important.’

Mr Madden said the $1.8 million component of the funding would be used for external works, such as walking paths, streetscape improvements and furniture.

' In the long term Doncaster Hill will be a hive of activity with local libraries, community and family services, pedestrian and cycling facilities and landscaped public spaces,' he said.
The project is expected to deliver 300 construction-related jobs with more permanent jobs once the centre is up and running.
